data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In 1935 vond een ontmoeting plaats tussen twee mensen met alcoholisme, die beseften dat wederzijdse steun heel belangrijk is. Uit deze bijeenkomst groeide de AA fellowship en gedurende de jaren merkte men dat voorheen hopeloze mensen met alcoholisme op wonderbaarlijke wijze duurzame nuchterheid vonden. <\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Vijftien jaar later gebruikte een groep pioniers in Minnesota de kernprincipes als basis voor een non-profit behandeling. De oorsprong van het\u00a0 zogeheten Minnesota-model en mogelijk de geboorte van de moderne industrie voor verslavingszorg. Het succes wekte vervolgens de interesse van de GGZ, die eerder alcoholisme had afgedaan als onbehandelbaar en oninteressant. Zo werd\u00a0 alcoholisme in 1952 in de eerste DSM ge\u00efntroduceerd als een sociopathische persoonlijkheidsstoornis (een neef van de psychopaat). <\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Dit gaf de aandoening enige academische (en factureerbare) geloofwaardigheid. Het Minnesota Model-behandelingsprogramma kreeg meer en meer aanzien en werd internationaal op de kaart gezet. De verslavingszorg groeide snel en de omzet wordt in de VS tegenwoordig geschat op ruim 46 miljard dollar per jaar. <\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Wat is dan het probleem? Het probleem is dat het Minnesota-model, door sommige instellingen, is getransformeerd tot een zeer lucratieve industrie, gericht op het maximaliseren van de winst en vaak gebaseerd op twijfelachtige\u00a0 behandelingspraktijken.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>De vraag naar behandeling is toegenomen omdat onder meer het stigma is verminderd. Met deze groeiende vraag en de lage eisen om een verslavingszorginstelling te starten, is de industrie zeer competitief geworden. En trekt het daarnaast allerlei individuen aan, vari\u00ebrend van durfkapitalisten tot pas nuchtere pati\u00ebnten, zonder andere carri\u00e8remogelijkheden.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-628cc827\" data-eae-slider=\"49286\" data-id=\"628cc827\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1835eb25 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1835eb25\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>De grootste ironie van alles is dat er nog steeds geen consensus bestaat over hoe verslaving het best effectief kan worden behandeld. In feite is er heel weinig consensus over alles dat met verslaving te maken heeft, inclusief de vraag of de aandoening \u00fcberhaupt bestaat. De wanhopige alcoholist die eindelijk klaar was voor hulp, is de wanhopige alcoholist geworden, die rijp is voor uitbuiting door hulpverleners. <\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Een verslavingsbehandeling blijft een behandeling die men eigenlijk niet wil, net als de tandarts. Mensen hebben het nodig, maar willen het niet \u00e9cht. Men maakt de verpakking aantrekkelijker en er zijn op maat gemaakte behandelingen in priv\u00e9villa\u2019s met uitzicht op het Meer van Gen\u00e8ve, kreeft bij het diner en walvissen spotten. Allerlei optionele extra\u2019s.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>De strijd om de rehab-euro. Het internet heeft met zijn vermogen tot misleidende marketing en pati\u00ebnten lokken enorm bijgedragen<br \/>aan de strijd om client\u00e8le. Wat is mijn punt? Om herstel zo waardevol te maken voor cli\u00ebnten, moeten zij een soort offer brengen. Een<br \/>transcendent en overstijgend moment om de behandeling te laten<br \/>slagen.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Nuchterheid moet meer kosten dan geld, anders vallen ze heel snel<br \/>terug. In een klimaat van verslavingszorginstellingen die toegeven aan de portemonnee en dure wensen van hun klanten en niet aan hun aandoening, wordt opoffering steeds minder waarschijnlijk.
